'Josee, the Tiger and the Fish' (I Love the Title)

Watched Josee, the Tiger and the Fish yesterday, and I don’t watch a lot of anime, so this is out of the ordinary for me haha.

昨天看了这部《乔西的虎与鱼》，其实很少看动漫啥哈哈哈

First of all, just based on the animation, this film was absolutely stunning! Especially with Josee’s drawings, and her story boards whens he started telling stories, I loved the animation! It was so gorgeous!

首先，从画面来说！超级美！特别是乔西的画，还有她讲故事的时候的画本，简直是我最喜欢的唯美风！很喜欢！

Character-wise, I think it was OK. The male lead’s character didn’t change much throughout the story, and even the part where he starts to be more depressed than before isn’t really that special. I think the descriptions about the male lead and his inner monologues, his hobbies, aren’t really that detailed, because the movie spends the majority of its time talking about Josee. She definitely changed quite a bit, going from the sarcastic but innocent young girl to the independent woman she becomes later on. I liked her development as a whole.

从角色来说，我觉得都还可以。男主的性格全程没咋变，可能有中间的堕落之类的，但是大体来说不是很特别。而且对于男主的心理描写还有他的爱好啥的都不是很细节，可能当时就想要重点在女主乔西吧。她就不一样了，从一开始毒舌的单纯少女到后来可以独当一面的女人，变化还是很可以的，也是蛮大的。

The plot, though, is where everything gets weird. First of all, the second female lea literally just likes the male lead for no reason, and just, for some reason, starts to threaten Josee?? I don’t get that. And the ridiculous car crash scene is seriously so cliche, and it just feels like the writers got lazy and threw that in there to avoid actually having to think about the plot changes. I mean, the ways for the main male lead to understand Josee’s feeling are plenty, why did they have to go with the “damsel in distress” way? Slightly annoyed.

剧情应该是我个人最无语的地方。首先，女二真的莫名其妙喜欢完男主去威胁女主？？很无语。而且这种车祸场景就真的很老套，我个人认为是编剧比较偷懒的环节，明明让男主感受女主的方式很多，偏偏是以英雄救美的方式，有亿丝丝的令人无语。

Finally, I think the best part about this film is its characterisation of the main character Josee. She is handicapped, and has to travel in a wheelchair, so the story is mostly about how she is able to push past her limits and not let her disability influence her life. The more important thing here, though, is that the story doesn’t make her out to be a character who is just obsessed with her own sadness (though she would be totally justified in that), and instead gives her a lot of inner monologues and hobbies. She is a complex character, and her story doesn’t just center around her wheelchair.This is the really important representation that I think we all need more of, so I hope that characters like this will be made more and more often.

最后呢，这部片子我觉得做的最好的一个地方是对女主的刻画。女主是一个有handicap的人，需要坐轮椅，所以故事很大一截都是在讲她如何突破自己，不让轮椅和残疾影响她的生活。但是更重要的是，故事并没有把女主变成一个一直沉浸在自己的悲惨命运中的单一角色，反倒给了女主很多心理刻画以及别的爱好。她是一个非常复杂的角色，而她的故事也不仅仅是她的轮椅。这种representation我觉得很重要，也很希望以后也会越来越多这样子的角色。

Anyway. Overall, I think the film wasn’t bad. If the tickets are of a reasonable price, I think there is no harm in going to see it, but if the tickets are super expensive, maybe consider waiting for it to stream, because, after all, it wasn’t… that good.

anyway 还是不错的，如果电影票不贵完全可以冲一下，但是如果贵的话那就还是等等线上看吧，毕竟…也不是特别出彩吧。

Finally, throwing another stone into the wishing well of life and hopping that everyone can find someone like Josee to both make fun of and understand you, romantically or platonically!

最后希望每一个人都可以找到一个可以像乔西一样理解和骂你的朋友or对象呀哈哈哈哈
